People who are going through the same struggles can give a person the extra motivation that is sometimes needed while trying to lose weight. It is easier for someone else to say no to you than to say no to yourself. Friends and family offer great support, but there are also other places to get that support such as websites like the biggest loser forum that offer diet tips, lifestyle tips and chat rooms where you can discuss issues that you are facing. By sharing your weight loss adventure with others, it can make what is a chore to some, become a fun thing to do for all. A workout buddy can also be helpful. The other person can provide an extra push to help you work harder than you would by yourself.
When you really think about it, it is not important to know why a person decides that it is time to get fit. Personally for me it was a choice between enjoying life every day for a long length of time or dealing with the complications of obesity. If I continued to live as I did, that might not happen During the course of the next year our exercise and diet changes that were made allowed us to reverse some of the complications caused by obesity that had begun to appear. But the most important message we were given was to never quit.
